The New Taiwan dollar, which recently rose to its highest level in more than 13 years, could strengthen further against the US currency this year on the return of global funds to emerging Asia, Societe Generale said yesterday.
The French financial service provider expects the NT dollar to climb above the critical 28.5 level in the second half of the year and hit 27.5 toward the end of the year while the central bank looks set to intervene to slow appreciation.
