ISP Liability Bill Completed Third Reading at the Legislative Yuan on April 21
In recent years, increasingly rampant Internet infringements are putting a severe blow on the protection of copyright. These lucrative infringement activities require the services provided by service providers before they could be operational. To tackle this progressively worsening problem, the Executive Yuan proposed an amendment to the Copyright Act (ISP liability limitation bill) after having reviewed many safe-harbor practices adopted by other countries. This bill completed third reading at the Legislative Yuan on April 21; after its promulgation by the Presidential Office in the coming future, we expect it to have a deterrent effect on copyright infringing actives over the Internet.
